As a physician and found of Physicians Immediate Care urgent care centers, I urge residents to use extra caution as the "dog days" of summer have arrived.

The recent death of a Treasure Coast student-athlete is a distressing reminder of the disastrous effecs of extreme heat combined with physical activity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 00 Americans die each year due to summer's sweltering heat. High temperatures and humidity, with heat indexes 100 degrees or more, create dangerous conditions.
